Alexander highlights unclaimed millions as prize nears cut-off date

15-Mar-2010

Local MP Danny Alexander has urged constituents who play the lottery to search for any outstanding tickets, as the deadline to claim a multi-million pound jackpot draws near.

A jackpot-winning ticket worth more than £3.6 million was sold in the Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey area for the draw held on Wednesday 23rd September last year.

Despite many rounds of publicity, the prize remains unclaimed and is due to expire next week on Monday 22nd March.

Commenting, Danny said:

"Someone in our area could have a big surprise waiting for them at the bottom of an old jacket pocket, or at the back of a cupboard drawer.

"It's well worth having a good look in the next week, because the surprise will not be such a nice one if the winning ticket turns up after next Monday.

"The winning numbers were 23, 25, 28, 41, 46 and 47.

"Good causes will benefit if the prize money stays unclaimed, but I hope someone in the Highlands will be able to enjoy their lucky day, even belatedly – and perhaps share some of their winnings with the causes which mean most to them."

If the winner does not come forward by next Monday, 22nd March, the prize money will be added to the National Lottery's Good Causes fund.
