AFFORDABLE TRANSPORT WIFI IMPORTANT FOR HIGHLAND COMMUTERS - ALEXANDER

20-Jun-2012

A trial project to improve WiFi services on commuter trains across Scotland started this week on the busy route between Glasgow to Edinburgh.

Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey MP Danny Alexander has urged the Scottish Government to ‘take seriously' the benefit affordable WiFi on commuter trains would have to the Highland economy.

Highland MP Danny Alexander says:

"If the trials in the central belt are a success, I would like to see the Scottish Government make a serious commitment to Highland commuters, ensuring that they will have the same access to affordable WiFi as routes in the east or the central belt.

"Many people spend an hour or more on the train each day travelling to and from Inverness, Nairn, Kingussie and Aviemore. There is no good reason that those people, living and working in the Highlands, should not see the same level of investment in transport infrastructure as other parts of Scotland."
