LATEST UNBUNDLING OF TELEPHONE EXCHANGES GOOD NEW FOR STRATHSPEY - ALEXANDER
2-Oct-2012
Telecommunications group Talk Talk recently unbundled Aviemore and Grantown on Spey exchanges. As a result an additional 3,200 homes will be able to benefit from lower prices and improved service.
The news was welcomed by Highland MP Danny Alexander, who has been campaigning on faster broadband and improved telecommunications infrastructure since before his election in 2005.
Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey MP, Danny Alexander says:
"There is great potential here is the Highlands for online services, but we need the infrastructure to keep up. The UK government has made it clear that we are committed to ensuring that people in the Highlands are not left out when it comes to advances in telecommunications technology, that is why we have invested heavily through HIE in high speed internet and the mobile phone network over the last two years.
"Poor quality connections still affect many homes and businesses - especially in rural communities like those in Inverness, Nairn, Badenoch & Strathspey. Unbundling the two exchanges in Grantown and Aviemore are good news for people living in Strathspey and a small boost for businesses and community broadband usage."
